Used Martin Guitars

Notes:

These Martin Hawaiian guitars from this period came with flat fingerboards and bar frets.  Not everyones favorite combination.  When this conversion was done, along  with the neck set the fingerboard was replaced ( with  Brazilian) with a modern radiused fingerboard.  Much better.  As well, it had the super thin '36 bridgeplate replaced with something more typical of that period, very nice.   Two very short tight solid hairline cracks on the lower back keep this from being excellent.  Huge sound.  Original soft case in marginal condition.

A superb guitar, basically a 1945 in terms of appointments:  Ad top, ebony fittings.  Condition is stunning, recent neck set, zero issues.  This guitar has the '46 neck profile, big, fat, round, feels more like the wide neck of the 30s. The Brazilian rose wood on the back and the sides are curly, obviously matched from the same log, perhaps the nicest rosewood we've seen.  Huge sound.  Love this guitar.

Here we have a T-28 made in 1957, one of 6 made that year.   Really excellent looking and playing.  It appears that the top was refinished when the pickguard was added; it looks like Martin pickguard material but they did not originally come with pickguards.  A beautiful Brazilian example in the original case, and for those of you in a hurry, the "5 Minute Course for Playing the Tiple" is still in the original chip-board case.
